An oversized vehicle struck a Long Island Rail Road bridge near Port Jefferson on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., the MTA Police Department responded to a report of a truck lodged under an LIRR bridge at Gnarled Hollow Road between the Stony Brook and Port Jefferson stations, agency officials said.

Service between Stony Brook and Port Jefferson was temporarily disrupted but was restored before 5 p.m. following dislodgment of the truck and track and signal inspection, the LIRR said.

Gnarled Hollow Road reopened at 5:20 p.m., officials said.

The MTA police issued one summons to the motorist for exceeding the bridge height.

Suffolk County police said there were no injuries.
