Service has been restored after a fire at a Long Island Rail Road substation in Island Park temporarily suspended trains in both directions between Long Beach and Valley Stream on Saturday afternoon.

The service suspension began at 12:30 p.m., said LIRR spokesman Salvatore Arena. About 3:30 p.m., crews were still working on restoring the service and service was restored by 4:15 p.m., Arena said.

There have been no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is unknown.

Firefighters from Island Park responded to the scene, Arena said.
