Long Island Rail Road train service has resumed between Port Jefferson and Smithtown, the LIRR said, after a person on the tracks who was struck, but survived, was taken to a hospital.

"At approximately 1:30 p.m., a westbound LIRR train struck an unauthorized person on the tracks at the Nissequogue River Road in Smithtown. The person was transported alive to a local hospital," an LIRR spokesman said.

Customers should expect 30 to 45 minute residual delays.

MTA police are investigating.
