Buses will replace trains between Ronkonkoma and Hicksville this weekend as the Long Island Rail Road performs track work.

Train service will be suspended between the two stations from 12:45 a.m. Saturday until 12:45 a.m. Monday as the LIRR installs new switches in Wyandanch and also inspects rails between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma.

The LIRR will operate its Sperry Rail vehicle, which tests tracks for defects. LIRR workers will install new rail as needed.

The LIRR said the disruption will affect 13,000 customers, who can expect up to an hour of extra travel time. More information, including special timetables, can be found at mta.info/lirr.
