Long Beach City officials will light their Christmas tree next week for the holiday season with the help of residents.

The city is accepting applications from residents who would like to lead the tree lighting Dec. 2 at Kennedy Plaza in front of Long Beach City Hall.

Long Beach is accepting nominees of city residents who helped their neighbors, and from exceptional teachers, military veterans or other residents who made significant contributions to the community.

All nominees’ names will be included on ornaments on the city’s Christmas tree. City Council members will introduce nominees during the tree lighting.

Applications can be made at the city’s website, longbeachny.gov.

Entries can also be mailed to Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine c/o Nominate Someone Great, 700 Magnolia Blvd. Long Beach NY 11561.

All nominations must be submitted by Nov. 29.
