All Brookhaven elected officials will be sworn in at Town Hall in Farmingville next year.

The Jan. 7 swearing in will also mark the beginning of the two-year tenure of District 4 Town Councilman Michael Loguercio Jr., who defeated Councilwoman Connie Kepert in November.

“This is very personal to me,” he said in a phone interview. “My son will be holding my grandmother’s bible.”

Even though his grandmother has passed away, the newly elected official said her spirit will be with him as he takes his oath.

“She’s going to be watching as I hold that bible,” he said.

He added, “I’m very excited about it.”

The 4 p.m. ceremony is open to the public and will be held on the second floor of Town Hall in the auditorium.

TOWN OF SMITHTOWN

The Smithtown Library is offering ways for locals to get financially healthy in 2016 with two free programs.

Personal finance tips will be offered on January 7 at the library’s Nesconset branch. Certified Public Accountant Daniel Mazzola plans to discuss how to control spending, reduce income taxes and plan for retirement. The workshop is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m., held at the library located at 148 Smithtown Boulevard in Nesconset.

On January 19, financial advisors Don and Brian McCormick will provide an educational seminar on how to plan for retirement and answer questions from attendees. The program is scheduled from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Commack branch, located at 3 Indian Head Road in Commack.
