Long Island marine forecast: Mostly favorable with rain possible Tuesday afternoon

Water and wind conditions are largely favorable because of a relaxed pressure gradient over most of Long Island, the National Weather Service said Tuesday.

The gradient will keep winds at 10 knots or less and seas below small-craft advisory levels through Wednesday, the service's Upton office said.

The long-term marine forecast is for sub small-craft advisory levels from Wednesday night through Saturday night, when an increased southerly flow emerges.

Inland conditions across Nassau and Suffolk counties Tuesday are mostly cloudy skies with rain expected after 2 p.m.

Daily high temperatures are likely to reach near 80 degrees with high humidity, the service said.
