In 1815, freed black slaves and American Indians founded the church that was the first predominantly African-American congregation on Long Island, in North Amityville -- one that continues to thrive 200 years later in Copiague.
In 1990, the Rev. Billy Graham made a record-breaking appearance in a crusade at Nassau Coliseum.
And in 2015, Isma Chaudhry became the first woman president of a Long Island mosque.
