Before Connetquot High School's junior prom cruise tradition came along, the 1989 festivities were held in the gymnasium. A blurb in the 1990 yearbook reads: "Expressions of unity exploded from even the quietest of our classmates. More than expected volunteered to make our drab gymnasium a sophisticated ballroom."
