Service on the Long Island Rail Road's Babylon branch was "close to schedule," the railroad said Tuesday night, hours after a person was fatally struck by a train on tracks in Wantagh.

In a tweet, the LIRR said service was "operating on or close to schedule on the Babylon Branch."

The MTA said earlier that an "unauthorized person" on the tracks in Wantagh was struck and killed at 5:04 p.m.
