Long Island Rail Road customers have several opportunities this week to voice their opinions about the MTA's latest fare hike plan.

A public hearing on the proposed 4 percent increase will be held Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Hilton Long Island at 598 Broad Hollow Rd. in Melville. Speakers can register between 4 and 8 p.m.

In addition, LIRR customers can record video testimony at the Hicksville station from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Thursday, and at the Ronkonkoma station from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Dec. 9. Videos will be limited to 3 minutes.

Comments also can be submitted via email through the Metropolitan Transportation Authority website at mta.info or by letter sent to MTA Government Affairs, 347 Madison Ave., 5th floor, New York, N.Y. 10017.

After the public comment period is closed, the MTA board will vote on the proposed increases, which would take effect in March. Under the plan, LIRR monthly tickets would increase by between $7 and $19, depending on the distance traveled.
