Mild and milder are the keywords for the rest of this work week’s weather, forecasters say.

Monday saw temperatures in the upper 40s, with Tuesday expected to deliver the low to mid 50s, then a big jump to the mid to upper 60s for Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

That’s as high pressure to the south ushers in warmer air, says Carlie Buccola, weather service meteorologist based in Upton.

Tuesday is expected to be partly sunny, with sunny skies for Wednesday.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said Nassau and Suffolk counties will be in store for springlike weather this week, including a threat of record high temperatures Wednesday and Thursday when daily highs in the 60s are expected.

“Temperatures will remain above normal through the next seven days,” Hoffman said.

Hoffman said the average high for this time of year is 45 degrees.
