Clearing skies and gusty northwest winds are forecast Thursday for Long Island, the National Weather Service said.

High pressure building from the west ushers in cool, breezy conditions, the service’s Upton office said.

High temperatures across Nassau and Suffolk counties will be in the low 50s, and News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said the day will be a mix of sun and clouds with some wind gusts up to 30 mph.

“Clear, breezy and cold Thursday night with lows near 34,” Hoffman said. “Wind chills in the 20s. Lots of sunshine for Friday with highs around 48.”

The weekend also figures to be mostly sunny with daily highs ranging from the upper 40s to low 50s, Hoffman said.

Overnight conditions will be clear and cold, he said, with low temperatures during the weekend in the mid 30s.
