Long Island weather: Storms end, lead to Thursday's good beach day
Wednesday night storms are expected to make way for sunny skies, less humidity and ideal conditions for a day at the shore Thursday, forecasters said.
"It should be a great beach day," News 12 meteorologist Bill Korbel said Wednesday evening. "Enjoy that."
The cold front that brought showers earlier this week is expected to pass through overnight Wednesday, lowering the oppressive humidity Long Islanders have been suffering through this week.
"Essentially we have a nice couple of days coming up," said Dave Radell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton.
Temperatures are expected to be in the low- to mid-80s across the Island on Thursday and Friday, according to the weather service, conditions that are right around average for this time of year. Evening temperatures those days are expected to be in the low 70s.
"We're not getting any of that tropical air in there," Korbel said.
Precipitation isn't expected again until Saturday when the forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the low- to mid-80s and a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms after noon.
Sunday, however, looks mostly sunny, with a high of 86 degrees.
