Nassau County police found a man beaten and stabbed in a Carle Place intersection early Sunday while responding to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle, authorities said.

The 25-year-old man had not been hit by a vehicle, police said, but was discovered bleeding in the street about 4:30 a.m. at Old Country and Glen Cove roads.

Police said the man, who was stabbed in the leg, chest and back, was taken by ambulance to a hospital to be treated.

Authorities said that no suspects have been identified. The victim's name was not released. Detectives, who are investigating the stabbing as an assault, have not determined what prompted the attack or why the man was left in the middle of the street.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
