Man found unconscious in Hempstead bar

Detectives are investigating an assault that left a 23-year-old man unconscious in a Hempstead barroom, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released, was found Saturday at 1:55 a.m. at the Sammy Play Bar at 144 Front St. and brought in critical condition to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.

A police spokeswoman said Saturday night that she didn't know how the man was assaulted or anything else about what happened.
