A man died after being struck by four vehicles, two of which drove away, early Saturday morning in Patchogue, Suffolk County police said.

Police responded to the 3 a.m. report of a 64-year-old Patchogue man who was hit and killed in front of 639 Route 112, police said.

The drivers of two of the vehicles that hit the man stayed at the scene but two other drivers sped away, police said. The man, whose name was not released, was first struck by a Toyota 4Runner driven by Richard Averso, 24, of Port Jefferson Station. Averso and his two passengers stopped and were not hurt. The man was struck by a another vehicle driven by Anthony Wesley, 50, of Center Moriches, who stayed to speak to police.

The two vehicles that left the scene were described as a 2011 to 2015 dark-colored Hyundai Elantra and a 2000 to 2007 white or light-colored Ford Taurus.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
