A Selden man riding an electric scooter Tuesday in the hamlet was killed in a crash with an SUV, Suffolk County police said.
Henry Leib, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:05 p.m. crash on Boyle Road, just north of Middle Country Road, according to police.
The driver of a 2009 Ford Escape, Nicholas Greer, 23, also of Selden, had been heading southbound on Boyle Road behind Leib "when the vehicles collided," police said in a news release.
Police did not say whether Leib was wearing a helmet.
Greer was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
