Police: Bay Shore man on parole agreed to sell heroin to undercover cop

A Bay Shore man was arrested Saturday morning after he agreed to sell heroin to an undercover detective, Nassau County police said.
Marcos Barrera Rivera, 29, of Bay Shore Road, was arrested without incident shortly after midnight by members of the Narcotics/Vice Bureau after he agreed to sell the undercover detective a quantity of heroin for an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
Police declined to disclose the location of the arrest because of the ongoing investigation.
Rivera was on parole at the time of his latest arrest and State Police had a warrant out for his arrest, a Nassau police spokeswoman said.
He is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, one count of third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance and violating a conditional discharge.
Rivera will be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
The undercover investigation was part of an enforcement effort to combat heroin use across Long Island, police said.
