A Huntington man for whom Suffolk County police had issued a Silver Alert has been found, the Fugitive/Missing Persons Section said Friday.

Police said in a news release that Christopher D. Petit, 19, was found in New York City and had been returned to his residence.

Petit had last been seen Thursday at 4 a.m. before apparently walking away from his home, police said. Police issued a Silver Alert shortly before 7 p.m.

The Silver Alert program is designed to inform media, hospitals and law enforcement agencies when a senior citizen or individual suffering from mental or cognitive disorders is missing.
