Serious crashes close 2 Suffolk roadways for investigations

Two separate serious motor vehicle crashes that occurred 10 minutes apart caused police to shut down two roadways to traffic Wednesday morning.
Suffolk police were alerted around 7:40 a.m.to a crash in Copiague and shortly after closed Montauk Highway between South 16th Street and South Strong Avenue in both directions.
About 10 minutes later in Bohemia, police closed the northbound lanes of Lakeland Avenue from Sunrise Highway to Church Street after a serious motor vehicle accident.
Images from that scene showed a badly damaged motorcycle and an SUV.
No further details were immediately available; police said an investigations were ongoing.
