Joseph Herman, of Amityville, killed in motorcycle crash on Southern State Parkway, police say

An Amityville man was killed in a Sunday night motorcycle crash on the Southern State Parkway, New York State Police said.
Motorcyclist Joseph Herman, 36, was involved in a three-vehicle crash in the parkway's westbound lanes near the Straight Path exits at about 7:51 p.m., a spokesperson for the state police said.
Herman was trying to change lanes when he hit the rear bumper of an Acura MDX, was ejected from his motorcycle and hit by another motorcycle, police said. He died of his injuries at Good Samaritan University Hospital, police said.
The drivers of the other vehicles suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
