Nassau closes beaches after Friday storm

Eighteen area beaches were closed Saturday by health officials because of elevated bacterial levels caused by stormwater runoff from Friday's storms.
Most of the closed beaches are located on Nassau's North Shore.
Beaches affected by the closure:

Hewlett Point Beach
Island Park Beach
Lattingtown Beach
Laurel Hollow Beach
Merrick Estates
Civic Association
Morgan Sound
North Hempstead Beach Park
Philip Healey Beach
Piping Rock Beach Club
Pryibil Beach
Ransom Beach
Roosevelt Beach
Sea Cliff Village Beach
Soundside Beach
Stehli Beach
Tappen Beach
