Just in time for a pleasant June weekend, all Nassau County beaches operating this season are open, including the four that were closed to bathing Thursday as a "precautionary measure" in the wake of heavy rainfall and the potential for higher bacterial levels, county health officials said.

In Suffolk, an advisory against bathing has been lifted for 49 beaches where there had been similar concerns Thursday about the potential for higher bacterial levels after the rain, health officials said. Copiague Harbor Beach and John Schiff Scout Reservation beach, closed earlier because of elevated bacterial levels, remain closed, officials said.

Temperatures this weekend are forecast to hit the high 70s to low 80s, with sea breezes cooling things off right on the beach possibly to the 60s, said Tim Morrin, National Weather Service meteorologist in Upton.

For information on beach closings and openings, check Nassau's beach hotline at 516-227-9700 and Suffolk's at 631-852-5822.
