Newsday received 12 New York Emmy Award nominations Tuesday for videos posted to Newsday.com.

The nominated videos, created by a team of 18 visual journalists, editors and producers, were posted on Newsday.com from September 2012 to August 2013. The videos covered subjects including Civil War re-enactors, dancing babies, visually impaired athletes and farmers.

"Surviving Sandy," a look back as Long Islanders reclaimed their lives after the devastation of superstorm Sandy, was nominated in the news special category.

"A Mother's Grief," about a mother's struggles as the anniversary of her daughter's boating death neared, was nominated in the feature news report: serious category.

"Time Together," about babies and toddlers learning through song and dance, was nominated in the children/youth programming category.

"Long Island's Newest Farmers," about a new breed of farmer taking root on the East End, was nominated in the environment: program/special category.

"Against All Odds," about six Long Islanders diagnosed with terminal illness who overcame the odds to become survivors, and "The Price of Life," about a young woman diagnosed with a fatal lung disease who can't get a transplant because of a lack of insurance and income, were nominated in the health/science: news/feature category.

"Gettysburg Revisited," about Civil War re-enactors flocking to Gettysburg, was nominated in the historical/cultural: news category.

"The Long Island Bombers," about a team of visually impaired athletes competing in Beep Baseball, was nominated in the human interest: program feature/segment category.

"A Life Together," about an engaged mentally disabled couple's fight to live together, and "Prepping for Doomsday," about Long Islanders sharing their concerns about being ready for all kinds of emergencies, were nominated in the societal concerns: news category.

"Nine Days in April," about how, for a nine-day stretch in April, New York felt like it was the sports capital of America, was nominated in the sports: program feature/segment category.

"Program Portfolio," excellence in photography for work by Chris Ware, was nominated in the photographer: program category.

Other Cablevision-owned properties also were nominated for Emmy Awards. News 12 Networks garnered 104 nominations -- News 12 Long Island had 26 of those. MSG Varsity had eight nominations, and Cablevision Local Programming had three nominations.

The New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will hold its 57th Annual New York Emmy Awards gala March 30 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, where the winners will be announced.
