Newsday won a record five New York Emmy Awards Saturday night.

The New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the winners at a ceremony held at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.

Newsday winners included:

"Creating Sea Salt," a look at a North Fork sea-salt-making business, in the lifestyle program feature/segment category: Randee Dadonna, Arnold Miller and Jeff Basinger.

Chris Ware in the photography/program category.

"JFK's Message of Hope," with politicians sharing their views on the former president's legacy, in the historical/cultural news category: Miller, Cassidy, Ware, Matthew Golub and Chuck Fadely.

"Eddie Gordon's Journey to the UFC," the Freeport man's rise to Ultimate Fighter victor, in the sports documentary category: Miller, Cassidy, Basinger and Mark Lamonica.

Sen. Charles Schumer, Rep. Peter King, former Gov. David Paterson and other local politicians and historians share their views on President John F. Kennedy's legacy. Videojournalists: Robert Cassidy, Chuck Fadely and Chris Ware (Nov. 19, 2013)

"A Man With A Dream and Reptile," a man's quest to educate people about reptiles, in the environment: news/feature category: Miller, Ware and Cassidy.

"I am so proud of our entire team who bring compelling stories to life every day. These awards are a great honor," said Debby Krenek, editorial director and senior vice president for digital media at Newsday.

Newsday won three Emmy Awards last year.

News 12 Long Island, also owned by Cablevision, won two Emmy Awards. Legendary News 12 sports broadcaster Bob Wolff was honored with the Governor's Award for lifetime achievement.
