Suffolk County police were searching for a man who fired a gun from one car into another, wounding a man Friday morning in North Amityville.

Police detectives said they believe the shooting was targeted.

The two cars were being driven on Brefni Street near Geraldine Avenue about 11 a.m., police said, when the shooter opened fire. The other driver crashed into a fence and was taken in a private vehicle to a hospital, where he was expected to recover from his injuries, police said.

Police were searching for the driver and any passengers of the other vehicle that sped away after the shooting.
