ENGLEWOOD, N.J. - Metropolitan Opera soprano and Broadway singer Dolores Wilson has died in New Jersey at age 82.

Wilson made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1954 in the title role of "Lucia di Lammermoor," the first of what would be 26 appearances, including seven with its touring company, said Met spokesman Sam Neuman.

Her roles included Rosina in "Il Barbiere di Siviglia," Susanna in "Le Nozze di Figaro" and Zerlina in "Don Giovanni." Her last performance at the Met was in a 1959 revival of "Lucia."

Her Broadway debut came in 1965, when she starred in the musical "The Yearling." She also appeared in "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Annie."

Wilson was born in Philadelphia. Most recently she lived at the Lillian Booth Actors' Fund Home in Englewood, N.J.

Home administrator Jordan Strohl says Wilson died there Sept. 28. Strohl doesn't know the cause of her death.
