A memorial service for former Riverhead Town Board member and environmentalist Robert Pike will be held Thursday at the First Congregational Church of Riverhead, his family announced Monday.

Pike, 57, died Sunday. An attorney, Pike served one term in Riverhead in the 1980s, fought successfully against the development of Robins Island and worked to preserve open space on the East End.

There will be calling hours at the McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Parlor in Riverhead Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday.
