Ryan Knight dies; member of MTV's 'The Real World New Orleans' was 28
Ryan Knight, who gained fame as a cast member of MTV's "The Real World New Orleans" in 2010, was found dead on Thursday morning at a Kenosha, Wisconsin residence, police said Friday.
Knight, 28, was sleeping at a friend's house overnight Wednesday when a friend realized he was not breathing about 10 a.m. Thursday and called 911, according to a Kenosha police news release.
Lifesaving efforts by friends and paramedics were not successful. Knight had been out with friends Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning.
Knight, a Kenosha native, had no obvious signs of injuries, and an autopsy conducted Friday morning did not find "any anatomical cause of death," the news release stated.
The official cause of death is pending a toxicology report.
Officials said that Knight had complained of stomach problems in the last two days, and his death is being investigated as a medical or accidental death.
Knight's past addiction to painkillers, which reportedly began after he was prescribed medication for a hockey injury, was discussed during the reality show. As word of his death spread, his co-stars posted tributes to him on social media.
The Kenosha Police Department also extended condolences to Knight's family, especially his father, Tom Knight, who served as a patrol officer for 28 years until he retired last year.
