Architect Arthur Q. Davis, who helped design the Superdome and designed the nearby New Orleans Arena on his own, died Wednesday. He was 91.

Davis graduated from Tulane University, served in the Navy during World War II and went to Harvard University, studying under such modernist masters as Walter Gropius and Marcel Breuer.

With partner Nathaniel Curtis, Davis designed the Superdome and other buildings that helped define New Orleans' skyline. He also designed buildings worldwide, including in Vietnam, Scotland, Saudi Arabia, Germany and Egypt. -- AP
