Officials: Man near tracks disrupts service
A man standing on and around the Long Island Rail Road tracks near the Huntington Station Thursday disrupted evening rush hour service, leading to one train cancellation and nine trains being delayed, LIRR officials said.
Police searched for him, believing he might have been suicidal, officials said, but could not find him.
Marjorie Anders, an LIRR spokeswoman, said full service resumed in about a half-hour.
The 5:29 p.m. train from the Atlantic Terminal that was due in to Huntington Station at 6:28 p.m., was the first train affected, officials said, and it was delayed at the Cold Spring Harbor station due to the police activity.
