A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash while walking in Central Islip early Tuesday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Taekwon Campbell, 22, who was homeless, was hit by a vehicle traveling north on Lowell Avenue, north of Cypress Street, at 1:30 a.m., police said.

A physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office pronounced him dead at the scene, police said in a news release.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
