4 LI state parks open for Perseid meteor shower

Astronomy aficionados can watch the Perseids meteor shower Sunday at four Long Island state parks that will stay open overnight into Monday.
The state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation said the parks will stay open for viewing from 11 p.m. Sunday until dawn Monday, the peak viewing times, the agency said in a news release.
There is no charge for viewing, and the agency urged those planning to attend the overnight celestial show to come prepared: dress appropriately, bring bug spray and a reclining chair.
The four parks that will remain open and their prime viewing areas are:
Jones Beach State Park, West End 2
Gov. Alfred E. Smith/Sunken Meadow State Park, Field 3
Montauk Point State Park, Upper Parking Lot
Robert Moses State Park, Field 2
