Nassau County police are investigating an accident that killed a woman early Tuesday in North Valley Stream.

Police said the woman, 26, died after her 2005 Chrysler struck a utility pole, then a tree on eastbound Dutch Broadway at Val Park Avenue, just after midnight Monday.

Officers from the Emergency Service Unit along with the Elmont Fire Department used hydraulic cutting tools to extricate the woman, and she was taken to Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream where she was pronounced dead.

The identification of the victim is being withheld pending family notification, police said.
