The crash occurred at 10:11 p.m.

Police said an investigation determined Toner was drunk and he was charged with driving while intoxicated. He is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Central Islip.

The officer, whose identity was not released, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was treated for neck and back injuries and later released.
