Police ID woman killed in W. Babylon crash

A driver was killed in a two-car accident in the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway in West Babylon near little East Neck Road Wednesday. (Aug. 24, 2011) Credit: Paul Mazza
The motorist who died in a two-vehicle crash in West Babylon on Wednesday afternoon was identified by police Friday as a 60-year-old Hampton Bays woman.
Miriam Ortiz, of 16 Rolling Wood La., died when the sedan she was driving was struck in the rear by a box truck about 3 p.m. on Sunrise Highway near Little East Neck Road, Suffolk police said. Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no charges filed against the driver of the truck, Ramis Kirlangic, 49, of Fairview, N.J., authorities said. Kirlangic was not injured in the crash, police said.
