1st C.D.: Throne-Holst gets a boost from Bloomberg

Southampton Supervisor Anna Throne Holst’s congressional bid got a major financial boost Thursday night as billionaire former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg hosted his first fundraiser for her in Manhattan.

The event held at the Park Avenue digs of Democratic fundraiser and bundler Charles Myers, a senior managing director of Evercore Partners, a boutique investment bank. Tickets that ranged from $250 to $2,500. Bloomberg knows Throne-Holst, because he has a summer home in Southampton.

“Bloomberg is definitely a big supporter of Anna and he’s telling a lot of his friends that she’s the right candidate,” said Andrew Grunewald, Throne-Holst’s campaign manager. Among local officials in attendance were former Rep Tim Bishop and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, who got a last minute $45,000 donation from Bloomberg last month for his own re-election bid.
