With 59 percent of precincts reporting, Legis. Fran Becker was projected as the primary winner over underdog Frank Scaturro, with these numbers:

	Becker , Francis	GOP	3,136	56%
	Scaturro , Frank	GOP	2,490	44%

Becker lost last time to Democratic Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (R-Mineola). He gets another chance in November.
