An gun-control group has targeted at least two Long Island Republicans for their votes against “microstamping,” which allows a shell casing fired from an semiautomatic pistol to be traced back to the specific gun that fired it.


“Shame On You Senator Kemp Hannon and Senator Charles Fuschillo! The LIRR Massacre took place in your backyard!” an ad in the current Levittown Tribune blares. It was taken out by New Yorkers Against Gun Violence.


The ad notes that the legislation is supported by most major police unions on Long Island.
