The state Working Families Party has endorsed Long Beach City Councilman Anthony Eramo for the 20th Assembly District seat that was vacated in April after Todd Kaminsky won a state Senate seat.
Eramo faces a Sept. 13 Democratic primary against former Nassau County Legis. Jeff Toback. Long Beach firefighter Sam Pinto also is considering a run for the nomination.
“Anthony Eramo has proven himself a tireless champion for working families on the South Shore and throughout New York State, and we couldn’t be more excited to endorse his campaign for state Assembly so that he can continue that work,” said Working Families Party State Director Bill Lipton.
Eramo, a Verizon field technician, deferred a run for the Assembly seat in 2014 in favor of Kaminsky, who won an April 19 special election for the Senate seat vacated by former Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre).
“The Working Families Party has a successful track record both electing progressive Democrats and winning important legislation like raising the minimum wage and establishing paid family leave for all New Yorkers,” Eramo said.
