Leaders of the Democrat-led State Assembly have endorsed Assemb. Charles Lavine’s campaign for Nassau County executive.
Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-Bronx) and Majority Leader Joseph Morelle (D-Rochester) will hold a reception for Lavine (D-Glen Cove) on March 14 at the Albany Hilton. Tickets range from $500 to $18,162.
Campaign spokesman Justin Lamorte said Lavine is “working hard to take in the resources needed to bring his progressive agenda to voters.”
Heastie spokesman Michael Whyland confirmed the endorsement. “Chuck is a friend and colleague and the speaker is proud to support him,” Whyland said.
Lavine faces a likely September primary against Nassau Legis. Laura Curran (D-Baldwin) and County Comptroller George Maragos.
The Nassau Democratic Committee’s Executive Committee endorsed Curran for the office last week in a 68-1 vote.
