DEMOCRAT

BACKGROUND:

Fleming, 62, of Noyac, has served in the Suffolk County Legislature since 2015.
She previously served on the Southampton Town Board.
She was an assistant district attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Hunter College and the University of Virginia School of Law in 1991.

ISSUES:

Fleming supports abortion rights and other reproductive rights and would support making a law of the rights provided under the original Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision.
She said she will work to restore the federal deduction for property taxes limited in 2017 by the Republican-controlled Congress at the time and then-President Donald Trump.
She supports a national ban on assault weapons.
She also supports a campaign financing system based on small donors to reduce the influence of big-money contributors and she supports the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act.
