Michael LiPetri Jr.
Republican

BACKGROUND:

  •  LiPetri, 35, of Farmingdale, has the endorsement of the Nassau County GOP committee in his third bid for Congress. After losing a 2nd Congressional District GOP primary run in 2020, he was the party’s nominee for the 3rd Congressional District seat in 2024, losing narrowly to Rep. Thomas Suozzi.
  • Lipetri served in the State Assembly from January 2019 to January 2021. He’s a lawyer, has been a radio/podcast show host and has worked as a managing director of a government relations and lobbying firm.
  • He received a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from the University at Albany and a law degree from Albany Law School of Union University.

ISSUES:

  • LiPetri describes “affordability” as a driving campaign issue. He says that seniors want to be able stay in their homes and that his generation wants to buy homes in the communities they grew up in.
  • He says his campaign is also focused on safety, protecting American citizens instead of “illegal aliens,” and “putting more money into the people’s pockets instead of the government’s pockets."
  • He says he stands with Israel, and views combating anti-Israel sentiment and anti-semitism generally as one of his key aims in Congress.
