Crecca gets backing for state Supreme Court
Suffolk's top Republican and Conservative leaders appear to be lining up behind County Court Judge Andrew Crecca's state Supreme Court bid - bad news for the incumbent Republican, Donald Blydenburgh, former Suffolk Legislature presiding officer.
Invitations for a $200-per-head Crecca fundraiser on June 21 went out last week listing both Suffolk Republican chairman John Jay LaValle and Suffolk Conservative chairman Edward Walsh as hosts.
Crecca has maintained that he is just looking for one of two open Supreme Court spots. But Independence Party chairman Frank MacKay has made clear his party will not allow his party's Supreme Court Justice Ralph Costello to be dropped from the ticket. Blydenburgh was unavailable for comment.
