Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has  picked an AFL-CIO official to be his next labor commissioner, continuing his push to solidify relations with private-sector unions.

Cuomo named Roberta Reardon, who has been working as an AFL-CIO economic liaison and who was past president of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, to lead the agency.

Despite sparring with public-sector unions, Cuomo has taken up issues this year such as raises for fast-food workers and hiking the minimum wage, pleasing the labor community.
