Cuomo says equal treatment threatened since Trump election

The state is urging New Yorkers to use a hotline to report incidents of people being threatened or harassed after cases have been reported since the election of Republican Donald Trump as president, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Friday.
The number to the state Division of Human Rights is 1-888-392-3644.
Cuomo said “hateful and cruel behavior” has already been reported. Ku Klux Klan fliers were found on cars in Patchogue, a swastika was discovered on a B train in Manhattan and a swastika and the phrase “make America white again” were found in a dugout at a softball field in Allegany County in the southwest corner of the state.
“America was built on the promise that all of us were created equal, and should be treated equally,” Cuomo said Friday in a statement through the state Democratic Party. “In the days since the election, that promise has been threatened.”
