Cuomo tacks again, this time to the winds of wage change

Changing sails on another issue, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo this week supported a $15 per hour minimum wage, nine months after his administration dismissed a $13-per-hour wage as a "non-starter."
It's not unlike the Democrat's turnaround on the so-called "millionaires' tax" in 2011 (implementing a new one after opposing it) and medical marijuana in 2014 (going from opponent to supporter).
The Republican-led Senate might oppose a wage hike, but Cuomo has put on the table something it could support in 2016: revamping the Common Core academic standards. On the business front, the wage initiative could be seen as balancing out an effort to woo General Electric to move its headquarters to New York from Connecticut.
