Cuomo watch: Don't bet on casino campaigns

It's been all quiet on the casino front.

Little has gone on in the way of pro- or anti-casino campaigns so far, even though a statewide vote on the proposed constitutional amendment to allow up to seven non-Indian-run casinos in New York is just weeks away.

The American Indian tribes (Senecas, Oneidas and others) that many expected to oppose the amendment are staying neutral after reaching revenue-sharing agreements with Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on their own casinos.

No push has come from supporters, either, suggesting they may think that staying below the radar favors their side. Some insiders believe the governor, who favors casinos, might choose to keep it that way.
