Suffolk County Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory (D-Amityville) exceeded his modest $10,000 goal by raising $60,627 in the last two months for a race against veteran Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford), his campaign finance filings Wednesday show.
Gregory raised mostly smaller contributions of under $1,000, his filing shows. All but two of the contributions were for the primary.
He faces an uphill battle in the money race against King, who reported having $2.8 million in the bank at the end of March. King has not yet filed his latest report.
Gregory did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
